The VXI429 module is a versatile, full-featured C-size VXIbus board designed for testing, simulation and monitoring ARINC-429 and ARINC-575 avionics applications. Up to 64 independent, dual-redundant ARINC channels can be programmed as Transmit or Receive and high-speed or low-speed. Each ARINC-429 channel can operate simultaneously with no degradation in performance.

The VXI429 board utilizes a simple, reliable, high performance FPGA-based hardware architecture and the highest data throughput in the industry on a flexible platform that can be easily adapted to meet a wide range of application needs. The architecture features an onboard, 250 Mhz, PowerPC Application Processor that off-loads the host and supports time-critical user application functions and interrupt service routines. The VXI429 board is configured with two 128 MBytes banks of onboard memory, providing ample capacity to support high volumes of data and complex simulations.

An onboard IRIG-B time code decoder and generator allows users to accurately synchronize single or multiple VXI1553 boards to a common time source. The VXI429 is bundled with a VXI plug & play driver software developer’s package. Application software can access the VXI429 board using AIT’s high-level application programmer’s interface supporting C/C++/C#, and LabVIEW/LabWindows development environments.

Transmit Channel Operation

The VXI429 provides real-time simulation of up to 64 ARINC429 transmitter channels independently controlled. Transmission rates are selectable for each channel at 12.5 kbits/ sec or 100 kbits/sec. Error injection for each label transfer (short gap, parity, bit count, coding) are software programmable.

Receiver Channel Operation

    • Trigger on specific or any error
